METHODOLOGY

How ModuQR produces and reviews technical guidance

Our goal is to make every technical recommendation traceable: standards are cited, product behavior is reproducible, heuristics are labeled as heuristics, and physical claims are not presented as measured results unless they were actually measured.

1. Start with the QR specification and primary sources

QR structure, symbol versions, error correction and quiet-zone requirements are anchored to the current QR Code specification and primary documentation from standards bodies or DENSO WAVE. Format-specific guidance uses the official 3MF specification where relevant.

Guides link to these sources so a reader can distinguish a documented requirement from a ModuQR implementation choice.

2. Separate what the browser can verify from what it cannot

ModuQR can reproduce and inspect the generated QR matrix, selected quiet zone, physical dimensions, geometry, export package and ScanSafe calculations in the browser. Those checks are documented as software behavior.

A browser cannot prove how a specific printer, filament, slicer profile, lighting condition or camera will behave. Physical scan performance is therefore described as something the user must validate on the final object.

3. Treat FDM thresholds as working heuristics

The Fine, Standard and Coarse FDM profiles provide practical starting targets based on nozzle diameter, layer height and feature scale. They are intended to make risky geometry visible before slicing, not to replace printer-specific calibration.

When a guide uses a ModuQR threshold, it identifies it as a ModuQR target or heuristic rather than presenting it as an ISO requirement.

4. Use reproducible comparisons

For a meaningful comparison, keep the QR payload fixed and change one variable at a time: physical size, nozzle profile, layer height, geometry mode or export format. Record the resulting module size and warnings, then inspect the sliced model before printing.

When physical experiments are published in the future, they will include the payload or matrix density, model dimensions, nozzle, layer height, material, slicer settings, print orientation, scan device and observed result.

5. Updates, corrections and conflicts

Guides show an update date. If product behavior changes, a primary source is updated, or a reproducible error is reported, the affected guidance should be reviewed and corrected.

When a ModuQR recommendation conflicts with a printer manufacturer, slicer or formal standard for your setup, follow the more specific authoritative source and treat ModuQR as planning guidance.
