What matters most
- Use the official review link for the exact Google Business Profile location.
- Test the destination while signed out or on another device before printing.
- Keep the call to action neutral and do not condition incentives on positive reviews.
- Place the sign at natural post-service moments such as checkout, pickup or reception.
1. Start with the exact review destination
Use the review link associated with the correct Google Business Profile location. Multi-location businesses should not reuse one location’s review URL across every store. A QR that sends a customer to the wrong listing creates friction and can misdirect feedback.
Open the link on a second device and confirm that the business name and location are correct before generating the physical model.
2. Use a clear, neutral call to action
Short copy works best on a physical sign: “Share your experience” or “Leave us a Google review” is enough. Avoid wording that asks only happy customers to review or suggests that the QR is exclusively for positive feedback.
If you offer any promotion in your business, keep it separate from review sentiment. The sign should make the review process easy, not pressure the customer toward a particular rating.
3. Protect the QR with space and contrast
Keep logos, stars, borders and decorative text outside the quiet zone. A Google-style visual theme can sit around the QR, but the blank margin around the matrix should remain visually clean.
For a countertop sign, prioritize scan distance and angle. A slightly larger QR is usually a better business choice than a tiny, elegant code that forces customers to move their phone close to the sign.
4. Put the sign at the moment of highest intent
Do not place the only sign in a location where customers are busy, moving quickly or unable to hold a phone steadily. The best placement is visible but not intrusive.
| Business context | Good placement moment | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Restaurant / café | Receipt area or exit | Customer has just completed the experience |
| Clinic / professional office | Reception after the visit | Natural end of the appointment |
| Retail | Checkout or pickup counter | Transaction is complete |
| Home service | Leave-behind card or invoice area | Customer can respond after the job |
| Hotel / rental | Checkout information area | Guest has completed the stay |
5. Keep the link stable and monitor the business result
A static printed QR should point to a destination you expect to remain valid. If you introduce a redirect that you control for analytics, keep it fast, secure and long-lived so old printed signs do not break.
Measure scans separately from actual reviews. A scan shows intent, not a completed review. That distinction helps you evaluate placement without assuming that every QR interaction became a public rating.
A reproducible check before you print
Keep the QR payload fixed and change one variable at a time. Watch physical module size and ScanSafe warnings, export the same model to your slicer and inspect the layer preview. The final check is still to scan the finished physical object with a real camera.
